The chapel in Chantemerle

The chapel in Chantemerle

This chapel was built in 1684 and dedicated to St. François de Sales.

St. Francois de Sales is a popular saint in Savoie and is often seen as a multi-talented healer. Today, he is the patron saint of journalists and writers.
This is a delightful onion-domed chapel nestling among the houses in the village that has given it its name. Even up until the 19th century, a procession would come to the chapel to pray for salvation of the harvest during prolonged droughts or periods of non-stop rain.

All year round, daily.
